My Favourite Chinese Medicine Tea for Women's Health

My Favourite Chinese Medicine Tea for Women's Health

At my recent event to celebrate International Women's Month, I hosted a wellness morning at Harriet's Rooftop at 1 Hotel Toronto, where I brewed my favourite Chinese Medicine tea for women's health and shared it with the room.

Everyone loved the recipe so much I wanted to share it with you too.

What Is It?

This is a classical tonic formula rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is designed to gently nourish Qi (vital energy), replenish Blood, and calm the Shen, which refers to the mind and spirit in Chinese Medicine. Like most traditional medicine, it's not a quick fix, but rather a slow and steady restoration of what modern life quietly takes away.

The Four Ingredients:

American Ginseng — Xī Yáng Shēn — 2 to 3 slices

Tonifies Qi while nourishing Yin. It's perfect for the woman who is tired but also wired or anxious.
Note: ask specifically for Xī Yáng Shēn. It is not the same as Asian or Korean ginseng and cannot be substituted.

Goji Berry — Gǒu Qǐ Zǐ — 5 berries

Nourishes Liver and Kidney Yin, supports Blood, and benefits the eyes, skin, and overall vitality. Gentle and deeply restorative.

Red Jujube — Dà Zǎo — 1 piece

One of the most commonly used herbs in TCM. Tonifies Qi and Blood, calms the mind, supports digestion, and helps the other herbs work together more effectively.

Rose Bud — Méi Guī Huā — 4 buds

Not just pretty, rose buds gently move Liver Qi, preventing stagnation and adding a light, uplifting quality to the blend. In TCM, rose has long been used to ease emotional constraint and soothe the Heart. Let your emotions flow!

Who Is This Tea For?

This tea is for you if you are experiencing:

  • Fatigue that rest does not fix

  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating

  • Mild anxiety or a mind that won't settle

  • Poor or unrestful sleep

  • Dry skin, dull hair, or tired eyes

  • Recovery from illness, overwork, or prolonged stress

If you read that and felt seen, this tea was made for you.

How to Make It

Place all ingredients into a small pot. Add 1 cup (250ml) of cold water. Bring to a boil, then simmer gently for 10 minutes. Strain into a cup and enjoy warm.

Best enjoyed in the morning or early afternoon.
Take daily for 4 to 6 weeks for best results.

I hope you make this. Please enjoy it slowly.

More events and more recipes to come!

Note: Pause during acute illness. Avoid during pregnancy or if taking blood pressure medication without practitioner guidance.
